> independent app developer
Hi, I'm Stephen — a developer who builds fast, reliable, and honestly minimal software. No noise, no gimmicks. Just well-made apps that do exactly what they promise.
What I do
From the first sketch to the App Store listing — design, engineering, and release. Everything crafted by hand, nothing outsourced.
Native and cross-platform apps for iOS and Android. Smooth, offline-ready, and built to last past the next OS update.
Fast, accessible web applications and dashboards. Server-rendered or single-page — whatever the job actually needs.
Interface and interaction design with a bias for clarity. Fewer screens, fewer taps, more done.
Reliable APIs, auth, and data models. Firebase, serverless, or a plain old server when that's the right call.
Profiling, refactoring, and shrinking bundles. Making slow apps feel instant without rewriting the world.
Ongoing support, updates, and bug fixes. The unglamorous work that keeps software alive and users happy.
About
I've spent the better part of a decade shipping software — from tiny utilities to apps used by thousands of people every day. Along the way I learned that the best software gets out of the way.
I work solo and stay close to the code. That means you talk to the person actually building your product, decisions get made quickly, and nothing gets lost in translation between teams.
My approach is deliberately minimal: understand the real problem, build the smallest thing that solves it well, then polish it until it feels effortless. Black and white. No gray areas, no gradients.
Toolbox
Tools chosen because they're solid and boring in the best way — not because they're trendy.
