Privacy Policy

Last updated: 07 July 2026

The short version: I collect as little as possible, I never sell your data, and I only use what I need to answer your emails and keep my apps working. The full detail is below.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Stephen Dev ("Stephen Dev", "I", "me", or "we") handles information when you visit this website, email me, or use software and applications I have published (together, the "Services"). It also describes the rights you have over your personal information.

By using the Services you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please stop using the Services.

2. Who we are

Stephen Dev is an independent software developer. For the purposes of data protection law, Stephen Dev is the "data controller" responsible for your personal information. You can reach the person responsible at stephenn.wilson@icloud.com.

3. Information we collect

I aim to collect the minimum amount of information needed to run the Services. Depending on how you interact with me, that may include:

Information you give me directly

  • Contact details — such as your name and email address, when you email me or fill in a contact form.
  • Message content — anything you choose to include in a message, project brief, or support request.

Information collected automatically

  • Basic technical data — your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, and the pages you view. This is standard server and hosting log information.
  • Usage data — aggregated, non-identifying statistics such as which pages are most visited, used to improve the site.

Information inside apps I publish

  • Some apps may store data only on your device and never send it to me.
  • Where an app does send data (for example, to sync or to authenticate you), its own in-app privacy notice will describe exactly what is collected. This website policy covers the website and general contact only.

4. How we use your information

I use the information described above to:

  • Respond to your emails, questions, and project enquiries.
  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Services.
  • Keep the Services secure and prevent abuse or fraud.
  • Diagnose technical problems and monitor performance.
  • Comply with legal obligations where they apply.

I do not use your information for advertising profiling, and I do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone. Ever.

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, I rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — when you voluntarily contact me or opt in to something.
  • Legitimate interests — to run, secure, and improve the Services in ways you would reasonably expect.
  • Legal obligation — where I must keep or disclose information to comply with the law.

6. Cookies & tracking

This website is intentionally lightweight. It does not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers. Any cookies that are set are strictly necessary — for example, to remember basic preferences or to keep the site secure.

Fonts and icons are loaded from Google Fonts and a public content delivery network (CDN). These providers may receive your IP address as a normal part of serving those files. You can block them at the browser level if you prefer; the site will still work.

7. Sharing & third parties

I only share information when it is necessary to run the Services, and only with providers who are bound to protect it. These may include:

  • Hosting & infrastructure — such as Google Firebase Hosting, which serves this website.
  • Content delivery & fonts — such as Google Fonts and Cloudflare-hosted icon libraries.
  • Email — the email provider I use to receive and reply to your messages.

I may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce my Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of users and the public.

8. Data retention

I keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires. Email correspondence is typically kept while our conversation is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted. Server logs are rotated and deleted automatically on a short cycle.

9. Security

I take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and collecting as little data as possible. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but I work to keep the risk low and to act quickly if a problem occurs.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information I hold about you.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Delete your information ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Request a portable copy of your information.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email stephenn.wilson@icloud.com. I will respond within a reasonable time and free of charge in most cases. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

11. Children's privacy

The Services are not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and I do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided me with personal data, contact me and I will delete it.

12. International data transfers

The providers I use may store or process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where information is transferred internationally, I rely on providers that offer appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

13. Changes to this policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When I do, I will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted where practical. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.

14. Contact
